2. Jacksgap

Originally created by Jack Harries to document his gap-year in 2012, the channel experienced a rapid increase in popularity after the addition of his identical twin Finn Harries as a regular contributor. As the channel grew so did the team of people that help run it.

Nowadays ‘Jacksgap’ has become more than its initial purpose. It’s an online blog and video project that is passionate about making a change and ‘doing good’. As its creators describe it “Every year JacksGap and the community embark a campaign to help raise awareness for causes we admire. We share their story through video and encourage others to support them by focusing on the positive stories that surround these organizations.

In 2013 we drove across India in three rickshaws with six friends. The goal was to raise awareness and funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The campaign raised $180,000 over six weeks. Since then we’ve committed to continuing to raise funds and awareness for causes we care about. We’re constantly surprised by the generosity and support that is given by the community that engage with JacksGap.”

In 2013 Jack and Finn launched their official website where you can find all the content they create such as the documentation of their experiences through photography and writing, all the videos and series they make and a collection of forums where the audience can start conversations about topics that matter.

Through this project Will managed to gather over 15,000 heartfelt submissions from more than 100 countries in order to form a compendium of 21st century love. In a recent post he said “Thank you for trusting me with your thoughts. Your letters are this book and you are the authors. I have collected the letters together to form what I hope is a compendium of 21st century love, structured into the beginning, middle and end of a relationship. It’s sad, it’s funny, it’s tender and it’s cathartic. It’s a portrait of individual desires, of resentments and of fears. But ultimately, I hope, it will remind anyone who reads it, whether they’re in love or out of love, that we’re not alone.”
