Of course apps like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter are out of competition, but there are apps that boast millions of users and funds each year in specific countries that may be unknown elsewhere.

Here is a list of the top 10 downloaded apps in Europe according to a Google statistics analysis sorted by country:

1) AUSTRIA: Runtastic Running Pro

Runtastic Running & fitness is a fitness tracker focusing on running with the moto:

“I am a runner because I run. Not because I run fast. Not because I run far.”

There is a free version of the app and a premium one, with the latest providing audio feedback, map user’s runs, track goals and targets and which is compatible with smartwatches like Android Wear. The Google Play Store pegs it at between 1 and 5 million downloads.

Moreover, the app provides the premium users with an expert training plan to help them reach their goals. Training plans include coaching & inspiration for fitness goals, such as: weight loss, building endurance, jogging a 10k distance, running a half-marathon, running a marathon or attaining a bikini body etc.

2) BELARUS: "World of Tanks Blitz"

A multiplayer online tank battling game is next in line.

The game provides the users with a free-to-win war tank experience inspired by World War 2. World of tanks blitz, is designed by Wargaming especially for mobile use and offers a variety of touch – screen controls that make the experience even more fascinating.

Some of the most noticeable figures of the game are that it enables the user to create a net of online friends against who they battle in real time, or to team up with other users into clans and battle against their mutual enemies. It is a game that uses strategy skills, user’s cooperation while providing a great range of battle arenas, regular updates, graphical enhancements, and an in – game chat.

Endomondo credits itself as the "personal trainer in your pocket."

Combining social life and fitness, Endomondo promises to be the best fitness tracker out there, keeping its users motivated and focused while at the same time having fun.

The free version of the app offers the user enough features to make them set goals and stay focused to them, workout using stats and audio feedback and ultimately track their performance in more than 40 sports.

The interesting approach of the app is that it focuses on a more socialised way of getting fit, by giving the opportunity to its users to create their own profile through which they can share their progress with their in – app friends, post photos, take up challenges, chat with other people and much more. TransferWise is an Estonian developed and UK-based peer-to-peer money transfer service launched in January 2011 by Kristo Käärmann and Taavet Hinrikus.

The clue's in the name: BlaBlaCar is a car-share service with a twist — users can select how talkative they are with a "Bla" scale.

EyeEm is a mobile photography, German app, with a profitable touch.

One of the most famous European apps out there is Spotify, a music streaming service with a library of millions of tracks.
